Beer of the Day: Bradfield Brewery Farmers Blonde

From Two Doors Down to one very good pint. Day Three’s Beer of the Day has been chosen by actor, writer and comedian Kieran Hodgson, best known to millions as Gordon in BBC sitcom Two Doors Down. His pick? A proper Yorkshire favourite: Farmers Blonde from Bradfield Brewery.

And what a lovely pint to choose. At 4.0%, Farmers Blonde is pale, bright, citrusy and packed with summery fruit aromas – the sort of wonderfully refreshing, easy-drinking cask beer that can disappear rather quicker than you intended. It also comes with a brilliantly Yorkshire backstory. Bradfield Brewery started life on a working dairy farm in 2005, and Farmers Blonde was named after the Blonde d’Aquitaine breed of cattle. The beer proved rather popular – today it’s Bradfield’s flagship ale, while the brewery has gone from milking 100 cows a day to brewing more than 100,000 pints a week. Now that’s what we call diversification.

So today we’re following Kieran’s lead. Find yourself a handpull with that famous blonde cow on it and order a Farmers Blonde. If you’re already a cask drinker, there’s every chance you’ll understand why it has such a following. And if you’re just beginning to explore cask?
