DESCRIPTION:Our Beer of the Day for Day 3 of Cask Ale Week is Lemon Dream from Salopian. \nLemon Dream made its debut in 2001 and has become one of our most loved beers as it is both a great gateway for drinkers entering the world of cask\, alongside being a staple with more practised drinkers\, thanks to being a very refreshing and easy drinking golden ale. Each batch is brewed with 260 hand cut lemons which add beautifully subtle zesty aromas and a citrus filled fruity finish. \nTrevor Hourican from Salopian commented “We are thrilled for Lemon Dream to be chosen as beer of the day during Cask Ale week – cask is the beating heart of Salopian and this week provides a wonderful spotlight on our national drink and its unique dispense that can only be enjoyed fully in the pub with friends. DESCRIPTION:Greene King has been crafting quality beers from its historic breweries in Bury St Edmunds and Dunbar for over 200 years. \nThe Westgate brewery\, in Bury St Edmunds\, has been the home of Greene King since 1799 and its leading cask ales are brewed here\, including Greene King IPA\, Old Speckled Hen and Abbot Ale\, as well as a broad range of seasonal and speciality beers. \nThe Belhaven Brewery is nestled in Dunbar on the beautiful East Lothian coast. As Scotland’s oldest working brewery\, established in 1719\, Belhaven brews several nation favourites\, including Belhaven 80 Shilling. \nPermanent Cask Ale Brands:\n• Abbot Ale is a 5% ABV traditional cask ale with a brewing process that has hardly changed over hundreds of years. Brewed for longer\, the ale has masses of fruit character\, malty richness\, and a superb hop balance. At this year’s Great British Beer Festival Abbot Ale was awarded silver in the Champion Beer of Britain Award and gold in the Premium Bitter category.\n• Greene King IPA\, 3.4% ABV\, is the brewery’s flagship beer. First brewed in Bury St Edmunds over 90 years ago\, this is an easy drinking\, session cask ale with a hoppy taste and aroma making it clean\, crisp and moreish.\n•  Old Speckled Hen\, 4.5% ABV\, is a British ale that was first brewed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory in Abingdon\, Oxfordshire. The premium cask ale continues to be a finely balanced beer with a distinctive rich\, malty taste and fruity aroma. Old Speckled Hen is also the only traditional premium ale to be supported by national TV advertising.\n• The Hen family also offers another permanent cask favourite\, Old Golden Hen (4.1% ABV)\, a light golden ale that delivers both flavour and refreshment.\n• Belhaven 80 Shilling is a 3.9% rich Scottish ale with a classic red appearance with notes of toffee and soft fruit flavours. \nSeasonal Calendar\nThis year\, the Suffolk brewer launched its Fresh Cask Releases calendar\, a portfolio of 18 different cask beers\, available at specific times of the year. The calendar has been filled with a combination of returning favourites\, key calendar creations linked to sporting occasions and national celebrations\, collaborations\, and new ales\, inspired by legendary stories of the people and places associated with beer. \nFor September and October\, Fresh Legs\, a golden 4% ale will be available to celebrate the Rugby World Cup and offer the perfect pint to enjoy while watching the sport. Making its return\, Bonkers Conkers\, brewed with over five different hop varieties will also be available with a refreshed pump clip for September only. \nThe launch of Cask Pins\nIn July this year Greene King launched the 4.5-gallon pin to market\, meaning pubs will have the opportunity to manage a lower throughput at quieter times. The seven-figure investment means that by offering a smaller unit for operators\, cask can have its rightful place on the bar even at quieter drinking periods or even provide an opportunity to expand current range. \nProud to Pitch In\nGreene King IPA launched its funding initiative two years ago\, where a portion of sales of the beer are utilised to fund grassroot and community clubs around the UK. Clubs can apply for up to £4\,000 for much-needed support to enable then to continue to play the sports they love. So far\, Proud to Pitch In has granted over £500\,000 to over 200 clubs\, with the ambition to give away £1 million. \nCask Iron Guarantee\nThe brewer continues to support its free trade customers with the Cask Iron Guarantee\, where customers with Greene King cask ales can receive a refund for un-broached\, and credit for remaining volume on broached casks\, for out-of-date cask. DESCRIPTION:Our Beer of the Day judge for day two of Cask Ale Week is Cask Marque Assessor\, Graeme Hall. \nSimon says: \n“It stands out across the country.  It’s well balanced\, sweet\, nice hoppiness and suitable for everyone who likes cask” \nSome facts about Landlord: \n• It has won both CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain and the Brewing Industry Awards Gold Medal a record four times.\n• Holds the unique distinction of being the first beer in Britain ever to hold the CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain and the Brewing Industry International Awards Supreme Champion simultaneously (1999-2000).\n• The ale was based on Taylor’s BB – a beer occasionally brewed in the 1930s to a Superior Bitter recipe and launched onto the market in 1953 as Competition Ale. The competition was for local drinkers to come up with a suitable name for the new beer. It was eventually won by a local steward from the Keighley Drill Hall Club who won a £500 prize for naming it Landlord. \nFind out more by visiting here.

DESCRIPTION:Timothy Taylor’s Brewery are our Brewery of the Day for day two of Cask Ale Week. \nTimothy Taylor established the brewery in the centre of Keighley in 1858\, before moving to their present site in Knowle Spring in 1863. \nThe brewery remains in the Taylor family and is now the last independent brewery of its type left in West Yorkshire. This independence enables Taylor’s to survive as one of the few brewers still brewing true cask ales in the same way it has always done. \nTheir mission to take extra time\, care and pride in traditional\, hands-on brewing\, making no compromise when it comes to ingredients. DESCRIPTION:Today’s Beer of the Day is 3B by Arkell’s Brewery. \nBeer of of the Day judge for the first day of Cask Ale Week is Simon Martin\, Founder of the Real Ale Guide on YouTube. \nSimon says: \n“The reason I chose 3B is not only for it’s historical relevance to British cask ale\, but for taste” \n3B is Arkell’s best selling and oldest brand. They’ve been brewing it since 1910! A classic English best bitter\, originally known as Arkell’s Best Bitter Beer and affectionately known as BBB or 3B by customers ever since. A copper coloured ale with a pleasant fruity and malty nose. It has a lingering bittersweet flavour of balanced Maris Otter malt\, traditional Fuggles\, and Golding hops.
